The State has made permits available with specific conditions for recreational vessels. We’re not sure what this means exactly, but want to keep everyone interested informed.

Kona Boys received word from the State that we are able to resume providing kayak tours in Kealakekua Bay starting April 1st, 2013. We are excited to again be able to share this historic and spectacular area with our guests and share our combined passions for marine life preservation, and ocean recreation. Hawaii News Now
As of 1/2/2013 Kealakekua Bay is under a moratorium from kayaking, stand-up paddling, and other crafts while the State revises its management plan of the area. We hope that the moratorium will be lifted within 2 to 3 months.
Hawaii State has pulled the permits of kayaking companies in Kealakekua Bay and is considering shutting down all activities on the bay. Give us your thoughts to personally share with the BLNR to help decision makers.

Kona Boys loves the Roots Bodyboarding Contest held annually at Wai’aha (Honls) Beach Park in downtown Kona. We’re honored to have contributed since it’s inception ten years ago. The event was started by a group of local boarders who have riding Honls since they were kids themselves. 2012 is the 10th Annual Roots Bodyboarding Contest.
